- Staalhemel (steel sky) is an interactive installation with 80 steel segments suspended at regular ceiling height. As the visitor walks through the space, metal pins tap rhythmic patterns on the steel plates, activated by the brainwaves of the visitor who is wearing a wireless EEG headset. Brain signals measured at 8 places on the head are mapped into a lay-out of rhythm on the matrix of steel segments. Special events are detected and translated into patterns of sound travelling over the installation: when you close your eyes, focus mentally or experience sudden sensory input.
